ALL NEW BATTLE OF THE KFC WINGS: Food Tasting Review

Annyeonghaseyo!! Konnichiwa!!

I can't really speak Japanese or Korea fluently, but I really miss the country and the food there L I miss Japan so much especially, and I remember spending all my hard-earn savings to convert to yen to binge on the food there. It was so delicious.. I spend a total whopping amount of $300 solely on food and really, I have no regrets. It was the best decision made.

So when they offered to invite me to try out the new KFC wings, I agreed immediately!! Was feeling excited because I love to eat korean fried chicken (used to buy them from 3 fingers, chicken up) and now, they are introducing the Japan version as well! Went down to give it a try with my best friend at Cineleisure Orchard that day!

The all-new KFC wings- freshly breaded in-store with a special batter, these juicy wings are cooked to crispy perfection and coated in two bold favours.

You can choose either the Umadare sauce (a tangy yet savoury Japanese sauce) or the Yang Yeum sauce (a korean-inspired sweet and spicy sauce) You definitely have to try it because you will find a flavour that you're addicted to it and can't stop yourself from eating! You can also paired up your meal with the new 7Up Lemon Mint, that allows you to enjoy the refreshing flavour of lemon combined with a cool burst of mint. Talk about quenching your thirst after a delightful meal! Yummmmmm

And therefore, I have decided to take on the challenge THE BATTLE OF KFC WINGS to determine whether Umadare or Yang Geum fried chicken is nicer. Will I take side on Japan or Korea????

So being quite enthusiastic about it, I came up with some kind of score sheet for both flavours!!
1. Overall appearance /10
2. Taste and originality /15 (very important)
3. Combined score with my best friend +5 or -5 (Bonus score to see if we've similar opinions haha!)

I had a hard time choosing which fried chicken, Umadare or Yang Geum to start eating first. I'm really quite hungry and to be honest, I want to bite on both chicken at one go HAHA. Decided to stop myself to proceed on with this mini challenge lollol.

Let the challenge start!

UMADARE #KFCOISHII
VS

 Yang Yeum #KFCMASHISOYO

And after trying on both fried chicken, I had my verdict and best friend tried them as well. We both had a finger licking good moment together because all the sauce were on our fingers and we licked em'all!

Our verdicts:
Umadare sauce chicken won!!
Both chicken is really good, I like how the combination of fried chicken and the sweet japanese sauce together. (Tasted a little grilled with honey taste, topped with sesame seeds!) And I would give it originality a high grade of 10 because personally, I really like uniqueness of the sauce- as you would want to have it more after eating first bite.
For Yang Yeum, it was a little too spicy for my taste so I prefer Umadare sauce! However, the taste was strong with kimchi and korean paste, definitely for Korean fans! Ultimately I choose Umadare sauce chicken because I found myself licking more to the sauce on my fingers than Yang Yeum! J My best friend felt Umadare was better too, as generally the not-to-sweet yet grilled with honey taste wings is generally a more popular choice.
It's like how when we all used to having BBQ gathering and the honey wings confirm all eat finish lol.

BUT BOTH REALLY VERY YUMMY!! Just look at the sauce dripping down from the wings.

Do try it if you haven't!!
And guys! You will be please to know that you can also enjoy the KFC Wings in an a la carte set of 4 pcs (choice of 1 flavour) at only $4.90, or go for the Wings Rice Bento Set which comes with 4 pcs Wings (choice of 1 flavour), fragrant chicken rice, a side salad and a regular 7Up Lemon Mint at only $6.90!
WHAT ARE U WAITING FOR??

Volunteer as Sailing for WCSR Regretta!

Just a really quick post before I'm off! Actually the reason why I'm posting this because I'm pretty amused/amazed/intrigued/ at one sea worm (?) or was it a sea cucumber that we saw floating at Raffles Marina Club while helping those sailability participants with launching boats and getting them ready for race starting later. HAHAHA I think is worth sharing cause it's quite cool eh! You don't get to see it anywhere.

The weather was pretty good except for occasional strong wind with big rain sian. CSP is pretty done and I'm really glad to be given this opportunity to witness such beauty (only rich can afford it) and sit on speed boat watching sailing competition.

wore my bali hat (that cost $4) with my SMU information system shirt!
ok my face very big.

LIKE OMG WHAT IS IT RIGHTTTTTTTT

Let me know if you know haha!

KDK Treasured Moments best entries

Really privileged to be picked as one of the 50 best entries for "KDK Treasured Moments" Thought would be really nice to invite my entire family to watch 1965 movie together. It's been really ages since we watched a movie together.. all because my dad's busy at work or mom preferred to leave her off-days for her trips to China. It would be great if my brother was there yesterday, but he had to book in as a recruit for the first time! 3 weeks of freedom without him haha.

Won 6 tickets to 1965 movie, 6 limited edition prepaid nets flashcard, goodie bags with old school items and they gave us either popcorn combo set/hotdog combo set for our families to enjoy! Really nice of them and it was really heartwarming to see so many uncle, aunties and grandpas coming together.

Thank you KDK for choosing me as one of the 50 winners!

Actually.. I wouldn't have won it because of my mom HAHA
My mom cut it and everytime when I show her this picture, she would just burst in laughter. I mean it's quite bad a haircut considering the uneven fringe at the side... Guessed everyone just secretly laughed at me that time lollol!

You can try searching for my entry on KDK Singapore facebook page! (you'll spot the exact adorable girl on top) :D

We conquered Bangkok in 2 days!

It was a really unforgettable trip to Bangkok. I had so many food swimming in my belly now and bought so much loots from Chatuchak weekend market and Roi Fat Market! Honestly, don't really bother going platinum mall (because it's really extremely overrated) as the shop owners are selling jeans at twice/thrice the price of the amount you can get at Chatuchak!

Haha I remembered how angry Alan was when he found out that he could have bought extra 1 or 2 more jeans at Chatuchak with the same amount of baht bought at Platinum mall.

While on the plane, Bestie took this gorgeous shot of the entire landscape of Thailand.

Took a quick selfie with the coin that allow us to take their train subways! Was wondering what happen if we lost the coins somewhere...

We wanted to purchase some alcohol boosters/mojito flavoured cocktail (my favourite!) but sadly, it was their national Buddhism day so we're not allowed so purchase any alcohol from supermarkets and convenient stores. So sad because it's so cheap and it looks so good!!

Many people went there early to the temple to pay respects to the gods.
I love their egg omu rice with curry plus mushroom cream sauce!! Coco in singapore cost $17.90 with GST while at Bangkok, it only cost $8!!

After you Dessert cafe
323/3 ซอยสุขุมวิท 55 ถนนสุขุมวิท แขวงคลองตันเหนือ กรุงเทพมหานคร 10110, Thailand

It's basically located at Siam Centre (ground floor) nearer to the foodcourt. They are so many Singaporeans queueing for a table inside the cafe. It was really delicious! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The butter inside the shibuya toast melt in your mouth together with the richness of vanilla ice cream. The combination between ice cream and melted butter toast bread taste so good that you want the entire dessert to yourself! Although adding chocolate may look nicer and appetising, but I personally prefer the original one!! Do try it if you have the opportunity because it's THAT GOOD!!

Wowwwww. Full stomach.

Duck noodle broth with pig blood and noodles. The soup base tasted so great, you can buy it at chatuchak weekend market! Choose the rice noodle instead egg noodle (known as wan ton noodles) around 70baht ($2.70)

EXTREMELY IN LOVE WITH COCONUT ICE CREAM!!! Tasted so damn good. But I wonder why singapore coconut ice cream/drink tasteless but theirs so nice?!?? (30 baht around $1.20)

Vietnam rice rolls with either prawn/salmon or tofu dip with seafood sauce. (So glad I bought one bottle of seafood sauce back!!) (50baht for 8 pieces ($8) )

Mango sticky rice with coconut milk drizzled on top. The mangos isn't really sweet... but the rice was good! Finally had the opportunity to try this! (around 40baht, $1.50)

Grilled Sotong with rice stuffed inside. It's damn juicy and cheewy to keep biting the sotong while munching the rice. It tasted damn good la. Cost around 50baht? ($2)

Mango salad with fried rice, tom yum goong. I personally find this interesting because they actually mix noodles, egg, crackles and even small crab together as a salad dish! Can't remember how much was it, but it all taste so damn good especially the fried rice.

Do keep a lookout for your belongings because there are actually conmans/pickpockets around to steal your valuables. I happened to see a poster list of at least 200 pickpocket's photo outside the toilet??! Some quite scary cause they look so unbelievably nice and friendly. #neverjudgelooksbyitscover

Roi Fatt was awesome because we get to see vintage cars! We also did went to The ArtBox Market, but that was nothing much because it's mainly cocktails, drinks and some own startup brand t-shirt and dresses that didn't caught any of my eyes.

Anyway, we did also cover part of Pratunum market and the place will be awesome for you if you know how to shop well! Don't bother travelling to the back alley because they sell really cheap imitations of clothes around. Worse part is, they even quote unreasonable prices -_-

Generally, Thai people are really friendly, for instance we met this taxi uncle who keep giggling at us and taught us thai words and I've met some shop owners who generously gave us discounts!

But then, we also met some nasty ones. Like they purposely want to extort money from us- the tourists and drive us roundabout, quote us funny prices and a woman yelled at me because she didn't want to sell ONLY one t-shirt with 'CELINE PARIS" but instead, I would have to purchase 3 pieces.

But anyway, I'm still happy with my loot especially the fake lavender on top!! I freaking love the real ones but they only sell fake ones haha..... quite affordable and I placed it on my vast.

The trip was really an eye-opener, especially we didn't have any guidance or friends to bring us around the entire Bangkok. Thai massage was the best, and we're damn shiok and lucky to do it at 2am after all our busy shopping. Really thankful for this close friendship forged and I hope we can always stay in contact forever :)

Celebrate SG50 with Domino's New Banana Kaya Dessert!

It was such a great night with food, music and entertainment to get us all hyped up for mega awesomeness pizza party!

In conjunction with SG50 to celebrate the heritage, Domino's Pizza added to their dessert menu this familiar taste with a twist, newly Domino's New Banana Kaya Dessert! We were all very excited to try it since we had the opportunity to try it first! :)

(*grab brochure and start reading about it)
Putting heart shape because I'm usually not a fan of sweet dessert stuffs but this is really good!

So question that many would asked is,
What's IN for us, the new banana Kaya Dessert?

Served with light and buttery crust sprinkled with icing sugar, the dessert pizza is spread with authentic panda kaya made from rich coconut cream, fresh egg and aromatic panda leaves, topped with oven baked banana slices.
Do you know that, Kaya spread originally comes from Peranakan-Malay-Chinese community of centuries past whose nyonyas whipped kaya from coconut cream, sugar and eggs? The name, Kaya is derrived from its color from the use of panda (screwpine) leaf.

Thinking back the past, my grandmother used to tell me that making a good kaya is not easy as it requires a long time to ensure thickness and consistency for good ones, and Domino's managed to do it really well!! Yay!! Love the delicious taste of Kaya on top of the pizza crust.

Yummmm.

For those who're interested to try this out, great news. Since it's SG50, the delightful Banana Kaya Dessert is selling at 50% off for only limited period of $3.90 (usual price $7.80) so do try out because it's really affordable and delicious.

We had some quiz session and games afterwards to win some fabulous prizes.
Sat with a few of the bloggers, they were really friendly and nice. Glad to have this opportunity to meet of all them here :')
The first game we played:

All the teams supposed to stack all the bananas in the NTUC bag on top of a person's head and walk down the aisle and do a small 'high five' to complete it! The fastest wins.

Our group super strategic hahaha. We decided to stack it by the base, follow by criss cross position so that the bananas won't fall.
 The second game we played:
We were given empty pizzas with ingredients from Banana Kaya Dessert and we're suppose to create our own unique pizza from scratch. Our team decided to create SG50 singapore flag by cutting the stars from the bananas.

Masterchef at work cutting star shape bananas!
 Creating the flag in progress.
Our finished pizza!! #sgpizza #sgflag feeling very patriotic and excited for national day after making the pizza!! :)

But boohoo..... the end product the banana shrink and the cheese melted :(
Big congrats to the group who won this round!!!

And the pizza feast begins. There are different kinds of flavors of pizza that we managed to snap pictures and tried them.

Happy stomach = happy me :D
......

Life Quotes

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.

Life Quote

Travel makes one modest, you see what a tiny place you occupy in the world. When we get out of the glass bottle of our ego and when we escape like the squirrels in the cage of our personality and get into the forest again, we shall shiver with cold and fright. But things will happen to us so that we don't know ourselves. Cool, unlying life will rush in.
