Does godaddy sell your account?

Urghhhhhhh just last week, I received so many spam emails from companies asking me if I require SEO (Search engine Optimisation) for my blog website or if I'm interested in their website building solutions. A handful of them were from India or United States company. I managed to block a few of them through the outlook block email, but different companies just keep spamming my mail with junk wtf.
So my first thought was,
How did they get my email address??!?!!?

An example of the many many emails I have received.

I was seriously getting damn pissed off because I have two email address, one for personal use and one for corporate. End up both getting junk emails you know!!! To make this matter worse, I started getting unknown caller ID and calls from abroad. Until one day, I suspected Godaddy account as I previously set up a dummy website with them for a domain account. So I started googling too on how to remove my contact details as soon as possible.

And yes, I'm right. They did sell the information. To make it private, I would have to pay $12 for the protection of my personal information of my domain.

Wtf. This does not make sense. I have to pay so many things just because I've made a mistake of keying my actual information into the godaddy setup page? I was seriously damn pissed off. I was thinking about it the whole day yesterday and I went to ask my groupmates about it. And my friend actually did a lookup and.... actually found all my details including my mobile number, home address and email address.

I was honestly shocked beyond words. I mean legitly anyone can use this information against you if you are not aware of the risks involved with public domain? I did a quick look out, and found out that some of the bloggers did not change their information either which I could simply do a quick search on a site that gives you everything.

I'm still contemplating if I should put the site for checking here, but I guess better not. Else everyone will be searching their favourite influencer or youtuber LOLLOL

Anyway, this is what I have found too:

Finally solved the mystery and changed my information! And ever since, I did not receive any emails anymore. if you are wondering if your information is leaked, drop me an email here!
I will help you check and tell you how to remove it asap.
Let's bring more awareness about public domains and the danger and hopefully more people are aware of this! :)

xoxo thanks for reading!

this had happen to me before when I was on GoDaddy. Ever since then, i have purchase domain names directly from reputable companies that offers the privacy plan.
