Was browsing through Facebook when I chanced upon an article
shared “52 things to do in Singapore before you die” and then I realize I haven’t
been to Marchite Reservoir for years not even mentioning the treetop walk that
HSBC recently built few years ago. So, I was on the conversation with my good
friend and we decided to trek our adventurous journey there! It was really
early in the morning and I was rushing my BizSpark articles to be published on Monday.
So two of us went trekking and started at around 9.45am.
The trees are really green and the path to the treetop
is really uneven. There are so many pebbles and big boulders that, instead of
the usual 10km (which is a no problem for me), we probably exert 15km of
strength and perseverance. So the journey up was really arduous and along the
way there are Singaporeans, foreigners who jogged up the route. And I pretty
sure we met some squirrels, monkeys along the way who tries to be really mischievous.
There’s even a Caucasian guy feeling the monkey with Hershey chocolate and the
monkey was licking the plastic wrapper. Can’t comprehend how much hate I have
for them as they are destroying the nature. Monkeys should only be fed with
bananas NOT CHOCOLATE.
But there is nothing much we could do and then we
continued the journey up. By then we finally reach we probably spend 1-1.5
hours walking in the nature. I always believe the myth of the mosquitos liking
my blood type because I’m always the aim for them to sting on. Got like 4-8
stings on my thighs and thankfully, I have my repellent with me. So it was
okay. J
After reaching the treetop, there’s a guard sitting up there waiting for visitors to walk in. Then I was thinking, for everyday he reports to work that means he need travel 10km to the treetop which is rather impressive
Took some pictures at the treetop and then headed for
lunch afterwards. But back when we are travelling down, I sprained my ankle
while running on pebbles because it was raining so heavily. Nobody but to blame
my clumsy feet……..
Overall, it was really a great experience and you guys
should totally try one day! Thing is, you have to really prepare insect
repellent, towel and sport shoes before going up. Worth visiting definitely.
Visiting hours: 9am to 5pm. How to get there? Either
by Marymount MRT or buses. Really really convenient. Will be splitting the next
part scheduled for another post. J
