Beijing Travel Blog: 八达岭动物世界 Badaling Wild Zoo

It was definitely one adventure travelling to Badaling Wild Zoo. Woke up at 10am and travelled to Xizhimen to catch the S2 Express bus. However when I got there, all the tickets were sold and the next timing was 3.20pm. Nooo way I'm going to take the bus because the last bus timing is at 6pm. The scary part was, if you miss the bus back to Beijing really good luck trying to hitch those expensive private cabs again :'(

Luckily, there is a sign which states you can catch either 919 or 870 bus from one train stop away and it brings you there as well. However I almost got scammed by locals again, they pasted the wrong sideboards at areas which are not even 919 bus stop (what the hell?) and then aggressively persuading tourists to take their private taxi or car again. Thank god for the map always, I asked for directions from bus attendant and cleaners around the area to walk to the right bus stop. Then another unfortunate mistake again.
I took the wrong bus, took the express bus instead of the normal one.

I was feeling quite upset with myself for making so many mistakes today. Thank god I alighted and was able to catch the right bus afterwards. The guess what? I ALIGHTED WRONGLY SIAN
I swear the bus stop drop off point is damn misleading? The bus stop mentioned 八达岭森林公园 and I thought was the zoo fml. All the local scammers already sit there waiting for tourists like me.

There's this woman who insisted that I took the wrong way and her private "car" will bring me to the right place by the highway expressway. Apparently I panicking checked and from the map it stated that there was no need to take the highway to reach the destination. What the hell really?
She was charging like 80RMB for a person and thats really damn expensive la.
Reached the park and paid 90RMB for the admission ticket and 5RMB for insurance. There's insurance for your car and your life, in case anything happens. That's pretty nice but that made it compulsory for everyone who wants to enter. I bought one packet of food for 10RMB!
Inside the packet of food have plenty of animal biscuits and I wasted all on the chickens by pouring on the floor.

YES CHICKENS LOLLLLLLL
Regretted like hell cause I could have fed it to the reindeer, horses and plenty of small pony inside. By then I went in, I was left with half packet of the food and 0.5 carrot. So I happily fed the reindeer and all swamp to me haha so cute.
Happy girl cause I've never been so close to reindeer and they are so friendly!! Highly suspect the zoo doesn't feed the animals so that the animals will approach cars and human for food. #evil The animals really bold though, they snatch your food and grab it and walk away.

There's even a cute black pony that followed me awhile after I played and fed it. So cute.
Paid 10RMB to feed the goats, sheeps and the pigs. Gave me a packet of carrots.
My youth cap! Walking instead of opting the bus back to the exit point. BEST DECISION EVERRRR
The ostriches that pecked my back. It's damn painful especially their beaks.

Paid extra RMB15 to see the dangerous animals! Like Lion, tiger, malaysia bear and wolves. But most of them like sleeping only the bear came out to us for food.

The goat that nibbled carrots.
The entrance of the zoo!
The sky really clear and I navigated my way through to the zoo, and well done Celine!
Taking the bus there. Long ride (around 1hour perhaps?)
Malaysia Bear that came for food!!
waiting in the enclosure van before driving off. There's this woman I chanced upon 4 times. She's really cute like she claimed we can do whatever we want since we have our insurance coverage. But it's pretty safe to travel actually.
My zoo ticket
The sheeps were really adorable. All sticking together like cotton candy hahahha
Taking photo with the glorious ostriches! I think they already kinda warn us that we can't bring our own food and fed the animals. HAHAA I THINK I DESERVED IT
Really cute zebras!!
I love this place!
This is the section where I love the most: Giraffe Feeding
You can simply opt to buy the feeding part (one stalk of leaves) for RMB10 and you can feed the giraffe! But the giraffe super aggressive and they super mean to the animal. Like they gave the giraffe those non-fresh leaves and we as tourists, bait them with freshly baked leaves. Obviously they will come and eat from us since it's fresher!

Had a hard time taking this photo cause the giraffe keep pulling the leaves stalk towards its mouth and the tongue is black in colour and looooooong. Kinda scary to witness a giraffe eating actually.
Thats all folks! If you are looking for a wild experience, I guess Badaling zoo would be more suitable and likable for you! I really enjoyed it except that the place doesn't host any pandas around. Have to go Beijing Zoo for this, but I really enjoyed my day there at Badaling Wild Zoo.
.......
But don't go there for the great wall, it's damn crazily filled with tourists haha, The zoo is fine!! :) Hope you enjoyed!
